HOW TO GET TESTED
Prospective participants can read about and order various DNA testing products at: http://www.familytreedna.com/products.aspx. We recommend the 37 Marker Y-DNA test as the minimum test to order. When your results are in, you will be able to review your results, see your matches and see how you are grouped among other participants, and you will gain a deeper understanding of your DNA origins by directly logging on to your assigned Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) account, utilizing the powerful tools available to you there. Orders  take approximately five weeks to process.

WHAT IS THE TEST?
The Family Tree DNA test kit consists of two cotton ‘toothed’ swab kits—designed for a single persons use. Each tube contains a fluid designed to arrest bacteria growth, so you can scrape your cheek and return your kit in any type of weather (hot or cold). The freshness of your sample will remain intact for months. Remember, a good scrape produces lots of DNA. Your kit also includes instructions for collecting your DNA sample (available in many languages) and the all important Release Form. The Release Form is your written consent that allows FTDNA to share your name and email address with someone who matches your genetic fingerprint exactly. Return your sample kit in the self-addressed envelope provided, and send it back to Family Tree DNA via US Mail (postage within the US is $1.95).

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN TESTED
If you have joined Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) for DNA testing and your surname is HILL, of if your FTDNA DNA results indicates that you match with other HILL DNA PROJECT participants, you are automatically a member of the HILL DNA PROJECT. Current participants wanting to upgrade can order various DNA testing products at: http://www.familytreedna.com/products.aspx.

WHAT WE DO
Aside from providing links to your Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) results, we administer the grouping of matched participants at the FTDNA.
